Fixing and Flipping Houses: A Business or a Job?

by Marty Boardman | August 16, 2012 | on Flipping Houses & Rehabbing | no comments

Here’s an important question for you – is this fixing and flipping houses thing going to be your business or an odd job? In other words, are you going act like a business owner and hire employees to perform the work associated with rehabbing the house, or are you going to hire yourself to do everything?I believe it should be every fix and flippers goal to work on their business, not in their business. My partner and I don’t demo, paint, lay tile, install appliances, light fixtures, cei

What would you do if you were me?

I just graduated from college with my degree in Biological Sciences. I hope to one day go to medical school. I got a job 2-3 months ago at Chase bank where they pay good and give me 20-30 hours a week and the place is about 3 miles from my house. The plastic surgeon I am researching with (who by the way is a clinical assistant professor at a UC Medical school) offered me a job to work for him and help him write his book, do publications, and watch procedures. He told me I would kill two birds wi

What is the process to purchasing a foreclosed home?

by OrangeCountyRealEstateDeals.com | June 25, 2010 | on Orange County Real Estate Deals | 5 comments

Can anyone give me a more detailed description than the ones I've been getting? How do I know a realtor or a real estate agent specializes in this category? Do I have to literally call up each and every one of them and ask? I have a couple of homes that I have on mind but their current status is "preforeclosure." I know this makes things iffy because there is the possiblity they can fix the matter on their own and it would not necessarily become a foreclosed home. Are all of t

I need help with my 8k new house purchase credit.?

by OrangeCountyRealEstateDeals.com | June 21, 2010 | on Orange County Real Estate Deals | 5 comments

I just purchased a home in Teaneck, NJ. I have been here about 6 months. I was hoping i would get the 8k credit at tax return. However, I just found out that since I'm a NYC employee and my union is DC37, according to a residency law, I’m not supposed to live outside NYC boroughs and certain surrounding towns around the city such as Orange county, Westchester, ETC. Bergen county (Witch is closer than Orange) is not included. I have my main address in my mother's house so i don’t get affecte

Is Orange County, CA a racist area? Is it a safe place to live if you are a minority? ?

I turned down an initial offer before, but the opportunity presents itself again. My job is paying somewhere between -20,000 (along with the GSA purchase of my home if necessary) for me to relocate to another agency in southern Orange County. However, several people have mentioned that in Orange County, there continues to be racial strife and that reports of whites targeting minorities have recently appeared in the media. Is this true? Or is Orange County nothing like that? (BTW, we c

Is this enough to live in Orange County?

by OrangeCountyRealEstateDeals.com | April 25, 2010 | on Orange County Real Estate Deals | one comment

I applied for a job in Orange County and it looks like it may pan out. The pay is 100,000 - 122,000 a year, but to my horror that does not seem like it will go far considering housing prices (live in Dallas now). I will not be looking to buy real estate at ALL!!! I only plan on staying 3-5 years and then I will have to spend time abroad for a Ph.d program. I was interested in the job because of the amount of money I thought I could save, but after number crunching now I'm shell shocked, lol.
